Worker, Butter |
Description |
Butterworks table with a cranked lobed roller. Butter workers were used to separate the buttermilk from the freshly churned butter, and also to mix salt into the butter. Water's butter holder manufactured by Moseley & Stoddard Rutland, VT. Many butter worker patents went to inventors in Bellows Falls VT. Water's butterworks were different from others known because the rollers stamped on one place while the tray moved back and forth. Wadsworth Waters, of St. Johnsbury VT received patents in 1884 & 1886. M&S advertised them in 1892 and 1913. |
